Looking For A Studio Mate
Studio Share Opportunity in East Vancouver Ceramics Studio
I’m opening up a spot in my East Vancouver ceramics studio — a spacious, fully equipped workspace shared with two other potters. It’s ideal for an experienced maker looking for consistent access and a respectful, collaborative studio community.
The space is currently shared between Awai Ceramics and me. We are both in on some evenings and weekends, leaving enough room for an additional full-time, independent creative.
The Space
~390 sq ft studio in a professional artist building on Franklin & Commercial (East Vancouver, Culture Crawl area).
24/7 access.
Tall ceilings, good light, and lots of shelf space.
Shared amenities: washrooms, kitchen, loading bay, and hallways — professionally cleaned weekly.
Building community includes professional and hobby artists, painters, jewellers, woodworkers, and ceramicists.
Includes shared use of my Skutt KM-1027-3 kiln.
Parking is available on site, and ample street parking is nearby.
Rent: $650 /month (includes utilities).
Who This Space Is For
I’m looking for someone experienced, independent, and considerate in a shared work space.
Minimum 2 years of pottery/studio experience and the ability to work independently.
Confident loading, unloading, running, and basic maintenance of electric kilns & fans.
Comfortable with studio upkeep — mopping, tidying, taking out garbage, and maintaining shared surfaces.
No sink trap is available, so proper clay disposal and recycling practices are essential.
Personal artist liability insurance is required by our building.
Communicative and flexible around kiln scheduling and private time — I’ll be finishing a big restaurant order and hosting a few workshops and art coaching sessions on select evenings and weekend mornings through mid-December.
Availability
Available starting November-December 2025.
The initial term runs until December 2026, with the option to renew pending availability.
A second turnkey spot will open in early 2026, including a wheel and full tool setup.
A written studio-share agreement will outline shared expectations, access, maintenance, and insurance before move-in.
Apply
If this sounds like a fit, please answer some questions below. I’ll be collecting inquiries through October and will schedule studio visits in late October and early November to meet, show the space, and see if it’s a good fit for all of us, before moving forward.
